The River of Life Evangelical Free Church is a new $2.5 million facility in which Nelson-Rudie provided structural, mechanical and electrical design services. The 23,500-square foot church is a one-story, slab-on-grade building designed with worship, multipurpose, education and administration spaces.
The building was constructed with several types of materials. Precast wall panels and long span open web steel trusses with 3-inch metal roof deck was used to accommodate the worship area which is also used as a multipurpose room that includes a basketball court and a platform/stage area for worship. The remaining areas of the building were designed for both common sloped roof trusses with a center ridge as well as a low flat roof area for the mechanical roof top equipment and a central skylight bearing on 2×6 exterior and interior wood bearing walls.
