Nelson-Rudie’s structural design team was hired to design new office warehouse space for Streamworks, a direct mail company. The new facility contains 34,890 square feet of office space and 53,545 square feet of warehouse space.
The building’s exterior walls are insulated precast wall panels which rest on conventional spread footings. The roof is constructed with steel beams and bar joists capped with a metal roof deck. The lateral support system for the building is precast wall panels around the perimeter. There is an 80 x 200-foot office mezzanine at the north end of the building which is constructed with steel beams and bar joists with three inches of concrete over conform metal decking. The main entrance feature consists of a cantilevered canopy cover with clerestory windows and a full height triangular shaped sign band. The floor slab throughout the building varies from four inches within the office areas to six inches within the warehouse and seven inches in the warehouse below a heavily loaded racking system. Large isolated pads were installed within the floor system to support heavy machinery and reduce vibration throughout the floor.
