The City of Medina purchased an existing office warehouse building approximately 72,765 square feet in size. The building was remodeled into the city’s new public works and police facility. The existing building included approximately 59,265 square feet of warehouse space, 11,300 square feet of first-floor office space and 2,200 square feet of second-floor office space. The project also included renovations to meet the requirements of the 2007 Minnesota State Building Code and 2006 International Building Code.
The renovated building includes a maintenance garage, small and large vehicle storage areas, storage and loading areas, offices and squad rooms, evidence storage rooms, two sally port garages, holding cells, locker and shower rooms, conference rooms and a lunchroom. The existing second floor was converted into a training room.
