Mackenna Paris Elected Chair of MNSEA Young Members Group (YMG)
MINNEAPOLIS, MN (May 19, 2026) – We’re excited to share that Mackenna (Mac) Parris, structural engineer at Nelson‑Rudie, has been elected chair of the Minnesota Structural Engineers Association (MNSEA) Young Members Group (YMG).
MNSEA YMG supports early-career structural engineers as they grow into the profession. The group brings together young professional engineers (PEs), engineers‑in‑training (EITs), and students through hands‑on learning, networking, and opportunities to get involved in the structural engineering community.
Through seminars, workshops, and construction site visits, YMG helps ease the steep learning curve of early practice. Members gain exposure to real-world structural methods, emerging technologies, and lessons learned from active projects, while building connections across firms and the broader design and construction industry. Committee involvement also gives members an early path into leadership and management experience.
As chair, Mac will help guide YMG’s programming and initiatives, supporting opportunities that make young engineers more confident, connected, and prepared for what’s next in their careers. The role reflects a strong commitment to giving back to the profession and helping shape its future.
“I am honored to be the Chair of the MNSEA Young Members Group Committee. I believe the organization plays a vital role in fostering professional connections within the structural engineering community, promoting awareness of emerging innovations in the field, and encouraging collaboration across the profession,” said Mac.
Mac joined Nelson‑Rudie in 2023 and has contributed to a wide range of structural design work. This leadership role reflects a belief we share at Nelson-Rudie: strong engineers don’t just design great structures – they help strengthen the profession behind them.
