What is the most valuable lesson you’ve learned in your career so far?
I think the most valuable lesson I’ve learned in my career so far is the importance of adapting and continuous learning. Having the ability to learn and adapt to new technologies and industry trends is crucial for long-term success.

While I’ve only been out of school for a short period of time, I have already learned so much and I know that growth and learning will only progress as I continue my career.

What’s one industry trend you’re keeping your eye on?
One industry trend I’m keeping an eye on is sustainable engineering. As the world moves towards “going green,” there have been numerous design practices that have begun to reshape the industry. I think it provides an opportunity for innovative solutions and I’m excited to see how it continues to advance.

Do you have any hidden talents or hobbies that might surprise us?
I don’t really have any cool hidden talents, but a few of my hobbies include pickleball, golfing, building legos, and hanging out with family and friends.

If you were a character in a movie or tv show, who would you be and why?
If I was a character in a movie or TV show, I would probably be any one of the Avengers just to experience for a day what it would be like to have powers and go on a crazy adventure to save the world.

What’s the best piece of career advice you’ve ever received?
The best career advice I received was from my father who explained to me that if you are perseverant, work diligently and efficiently you will do well in life. He also said don’t ever be afraid to ask questions, that is how you learn and gather information you need.

What’s your favorite part of your daily routine?
My favorite part of my daily routine is once I am all set up and rolling along in the morning is to grab a cup of coffee and a bite to eat, it totally recharges me and keeps me focused and invigorated usually for the rest of the day.

If you could have dinner with any historical figure, who would it be and what would you ask them?
Albert Einstein strikes me as being a very intriguing historical figure, although I probably wouldn’t be able to relate to that genius brain and strike up a normal conversation over dinner, but if I could ask him what he thinks about AI and where does he see AI taking us, that could be interesting.

What’s a fun fact about you that not many people know?
Most people probably don’t know that I used to be a very avid runner in my late 30’s and early 40’s. I completed 29 marathons, including (2) Boston marathons. The Twin Cities marathon was always my favorite, though, because of the massive local support the runners get along the course, and the beautiful fall scenery along the way was a plus.

What led you to this career?
I’ve honestly changed many majors in community college and worked numerous part-time jobs but in the end decided to stick with mechanical engineering when I transferred to University as it combined my curiosity and passion for both Physics and Math.

I love learning new things and believe that’s been the biggest drive for my career. Knowing that what I get to do everyday also helps society is also great feeling.

What’s the most inspiring part of your job?
Being able to make a difference in the world by making effective and efficient engineering decisions while working with amazing professional peers and constantly learning from them.

But also all of the puns I get to make about keeping things cool as a refrigeration engineer.

What would be your personal motto?
Leave the world a better place than I found it.

What’s the top destination on your must-visit list?
Ever since I was a kid I’ve loved everything about cars and so my top destination for now on the long list of must-visit is the Nurburgring racetrack in Germany.

What aspects of your job do you find most fulfilling?
My days are never the same. I am constantly evolving, embracing new challenges and acquiring new skills. I get great satisfaction from actively participating in positive change and growth.

What skill or knowledge from your educational background has been most helpful in your career?

1) The most valuable skills I acquired throughout my college journey were confidence, time management and collaboration. 2) Confidence is paramount. Believing in oneself and one’s ideas is the first step to persuading others to believe in them too. 3) Time management is crucial. Mastering the art of prioritizing tasks ensures efficiency and productivity. 4) Collaboration is essential. Being a collaborative team player benefits your team, the company and yourself. While independence is valuable, seeking insights and ideas from others enriches the process, even if you don’t always implement them.

If your life had a tagline or slogan, what would it be?

The most valuable aspects of life are the experiences we have and the relationships we build. Cherish every moment, whether you create memories alone or share them with your loved ones and never take any moment for granted.

What are you happiest doing, when you’re not working?
Daily walks with my miniature schnauzer Miles, anything outdoors surrounded by nature, spending time with family/friends, and traveling.
