NEILSON REISE ARENA HVAC IMPROVEMENTS

Bemidji, MN

$300,000

ice arena renovation

As the only year-round skating arena in the area and a hub for northern Minnesotan hockey players and figure skaters alike, the renovation of the Neilson Reise Arena had to serve the long-term needs of the many who frequent it. The $300,000 estimated ice arena renovation included the addition of desiccant dehumidification to one of the rinks, the replacement of the arena’s ventilation and heating systems, and the repair of door seals and caulk cracks in the building envelope.

Structural engineering services reviewed, and redesigned building penetrations required for the new dehumidification system, while MEP engineering services included the complete design of the plumbing, fire protection, life safety, HVAC, lighting, power and low voltage systems required for the renovation. Multiple site visits were conducted to survey existing conditions, propose possible locations for the new equipment and facilitate ongoing communication. During project development, Nelson-Rudie produced in-detail specifications setting forth clear designs and outlining the cost and timeline to be expected as a result of services and construction required for the renovation project.
